Socially Responsible Investing – The Smarter Way To Invest

What is often heard from the larger investors inside the investment community is it simply doesn’t work socially responsible investing” ,I am in the business to make money, for the big players this happens to be their mindset and they are not looking for charities. But how great would it be if there was a way where you can have investment strategy that makes the money but at the same time goes towards a good cause and help society by investing responsibly.

If you were to address the areas of need in human rights protection, protecting the interests of various consumer groups, environmental friendly activity, and avoid all investing in all companies that have involvement with weapons, or those that deal with tobacco, casinos and gambling  you would be considered a socially responsible investor. Not only does investing this way help society but it’s also an ethical investment that truly does show returns and make money.

This concept was first introduced by HSBC and later on from Citigroup and it soon was filed suit by many of the top investment firms to combine an ethical and responsible way to invest ones money that will still result in a maximum returns on one’s investment.

To truly be a socially responsible investor you need to say no to businesses that manufacture anything harmful to the Earth’s atmosphere, onsociety, or could lead to massive damage of lives no matter how profitable the venture may be. Any company doing so would not find a place in an investor’s portfolio.

Where you would find socially responsible mutual funds would be investing in clean energy, solar power plants, biodegradable alternatives, power turbines and companies marketing a vaccines or special subsidized housing to the ignorant and poor people of the world along with any companies companies that would help the less fortunate and those who suffer tragedy and loss get back on their feet.

There is certainly a large profit margin in socially responsible investing, especially when you are talking about mutual funds and stocks with this criteria. In general the key is that it is a volume driven business and the market is expanding rapidly due to the large growing energy crisis and the global warming factors that we are dealing with today

This may be one of the greatest opportunities that has ever hit the investment market due to the fact that you can gain some large profits on your stocks and mutual funds without feeling of guilt that you are profiting from the sweat and blood of society, and the many harmful factors our world faces today.

You can find out more about socially responsible investing by talking to your mutual fund manager or your investment adviser at your preferred investment firm.
